Plywood Boat Seats

plywood boat seats

Heres my aluminum boat, i took out the terrible plywood seats and replaced them with composite wood. it will last forever and the hardware will never rust! my boat is from the 1980's so the foam. What kind of plywood would you use and how thick? my primary goal is sound reduction. i will be applying a dynamat type product and carpet to the plywood. the materials that are readily available are 1/2" pine pressure treated plywood, advantech 23/32 osb subfloor (osb guaranteed for 300 days of water exposure) or 1/2 birch plywood.. Fisher dave, thanks for the input. my carpeting idea would've included using treated plywood, rather than carpeting existing old wood. just one more thing, i've boxed in the front two seats on a standard lund, making it a carpeted deck with a storage hatch between the two seats and have really enjoyed the design for both fishing and scooting around the lake with family and/or dog..

plywood boat seats Re: what plywood for seat cushions? i had a 1996 bayliner. factory painted seat cushion plywood and side panel plywood rotted away in 2000. i replaced it with exterior plywood totally sealed with 2 coats of minwax spar varnish, about $10 from home depot. when i sold the boat 7 years later in 2007 all of the replaced wood still looked brand new..
